The American Bar Association’s Division of Public Education, in partnership with the Federal Judicial Center, announces its 2019 Federal Trials and Great Debates Summer Institute for Teachers in Washington, D.C., from June 23-29. The institute deepens participants’ knowledge of the federal judiciary and of the role the federal courts have played in key public controversies that have defined our constitutional and other legal rights.
Participants will spend time with legal historians and judges exploring:
- U.S. v. Susan B. Anthony: The Fight for Women’s Suffrage
- Chew Heong v. U.S.: Chinese Exclusion and the Federal Courts
- U.S. v. Cassius Clay: Muhammad Ali’s Fight Against the Vietnam Draft
