Join Monticello on Saturday, June 18, at 9:30 a.m. ET for a special public summit: “Ascendant: The Power of Descendant Communities to Shape Our Stories, Places, and Future.” Held on Monticello’s iconic West Lawn, this program will bring descendants of Monticello’s enslaved community, thought leaders, writers, artists, and historians together in conversation about the importance of descendant voices in the telling of American history — voices that have often been marginalized, or left out completely. This event is free and open to the public, but registration required. Unable to attend in person? Join the event livestream on our Facebook page, website, and YouTube channel.
